Friendship is a Sheltering Tree
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Thursday Apr 28, 2022
Would there have been a David without Jonathan? Holmes without Watson? Starsky without Hutch? We continue looking at the life of David in the book of I Samuel. "Friendship is a sheltering tree," mused poet Samuel Coleridge. Like King David, we need a grove of such friendships. Let's get out our shovels and start planting a few.

What God is looking for, you are capable of. It's not talent, looks or results. It's not out of reach for anyone. In part two of this series, David compares King Saul with a young King David to answer this all important question.

When God Wants to Wrestle
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
Thursday Apr 07, 2022
God is always on the lookout for people who won't tap out when life puts you on your back. Enter Hannah, a woman who knew how to wrestle with God in prayer. Author Elizabeth Thompson sits in with David to kick off a new series from the book of I Samuel. We talk about struggling with God through infertility, dreams deferred and trials that drag on and on. Hannah's story is a call to get back in the ring with God and go another round.
This interview was conducted via Zoom so forgive us if the audio quality is not quite as crisp as usual.

As Jesus' time on earth drew to a close, what captured his thoughts? It seems he was reflecting on the same things one might expect anyone else to ponder in their final hours: Home. Family. His father. David winds down our series on the gospel of John and invites us all to come have breakfast.

Pull up a seat at the breakfast table with our family on Christmas Eve, 2021. Join David and Lisa and the kids for a family devotional talking about the gifts Jesus wants to give us. We're taking a little detour from the gospel of John series (but we will still look at a few verses from John here). Consider this episode our Christmas Special! The quality here is rough and there was no rehearsal but we offer this podcast in love in the hopes that it will make your Christmas a little merrier and bring you a little closer to Jesus... whether you're listening on Christmas or not. Enjoy!

For 2,000 years, rumor, misinformation and debate has swirled around Jesus. Who was Jesus? A woke progressive? A righteous judge? A hippie Mr. Rogers? Or more like a WWE champ? In the third podcast of this series, David looks at Jesus in John 7 and 8.

What Do You Want?
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
Thursday Dec 02, 2021
Jesus' first words recorded in John's gospel turn out to be this all important question: What do you want? In the second installment of our series, David explores Jesus' fascination with what people want through interactions in the first six chapters of John. The longings of our heart reveal a lot about us... and may reveal a lot about our God, too. We're all wanting something. Bring it to Jesus today! We have a lot of ground to cover so let's jump in.
